Title card: How to stop AI forgetting you, with a memory you control

You explain your project to ChatGPT on Monday. On Tuesday you open Claude and explain it again. On Wednesday the first chat has scrolled away and you start over. Most people who use AI every day know this loop. This article explains why it happens and what a memory you actually control looks like.

Why AI chats forget you

A language model does not learn from your conversation. Each answer is computed from the text it is given right now: your message plus whatever earlier text the app chooses to send along. When a chat gets long, or when you start a new one, or when you switch to another AI, that earlier text is simply not there.

Some apps add a memory feature on top. It helps, but it usually has three problems:

  • It lives in one app. What ChatGPT remembers, Claude does not know, and the other way round.
  • It decides on its own. A passing remark can become a "fact" about you without you noticing.
  • It is hard to see and take with you. You cannot always tell where a remembered fact came from, or export it.

A memory that is a list you own

In Cortex66 the memory (we call it your brain) is a list of facts, and every fact has a source and a date. Three rules keep it yours:

  1. Nothing joins without your yes. An AI may propose a fact from a chat. It stays a proposal until you confirm it.
  2. Forget means delete. Forgetting removes the fact; it is not hidden and kept somewhere.
  3. Export gives you everything. You can take all confirmed facts with their sources.

Because the brain sits in one place, every AI you use through Cortex66 reads the same confirmed facts: your own keys and the Claude and ChatGPT you connect. You explain your project once.

You can try the three buttons on sample cards, with no sign-up, on the memory page.

Tips for a memory that stays useful

  • Confirm facts that will still be true next month (your role, your project, how you like answers), not one-off details.
  • Forget anything that changed. A stale fact is worse than none.
  • Export now and then; it is also a good way to see what the AIs think they know.

FAQ

Does Cortex66 learn from my chats without asking?

It may propose a fact. A proposal stays a proposal until you confirm it.

Do ChatGPT and Claude share memory with each other?

Not on their own. Through Cortex66 both read the same confirmed facts from your brain, so you do not repeat yourself.

Can I delete what an AI remembers about me?

In Cortex66, yes: forgetting a fact deletes it. For memory kept inside another app, use that app's own settings.

Can I take my AI memory with me?

Yes. Export gives you every confirmed fact with its source.
