Title card: How to stop repeating yourself to every AI app

"I'm a nurse, I work nights, keep it short." If you have typed a sentence like that into an AI app more than once this week, you are not alone. Each app keeps its own idea of who you are, some keep none, and none of them share with each other. Here is why it happens and what you can do about it today.

Why AI apps forget you

A chat model does not remember anything between conversations by itself. What feels like memory is the app saving notes about you and adding them to new chats. Each app does this differently: some save automatically, some only when you ask, some not at all, and the notes in one app never reach another. Switch apps, or start a fresh chat, and you start from zero.

Step 1: write your "about me" once

Keep a short note with the things you repeat: what you do, who you write for, your tone, your language, the tools you use and anything you never want ("no emojis", "metric units"). Five to ten lines is enough. Paste it at the start of a new chat, or into an app's custom instructions where it has them.

Step 2: check what each app already saved

Open the memory or personalization settings in each assistant you use. Read what it keeps about you, delete what is wrong or too private, and turn automatic saving off if you prefer to decide yourself. Do this every few weeks: saved notes drift, and an old note (a job you left, a project that ended) quietly shapes every new answer until you remove it.

Step 3: keep private things out

Do not put passwords, ID numbers, health or money details into an AI's memory. If an assistant needs context for a task, give it for that task only.

Step 4: keep one source of truth

The real fix is one list that all your assistants read, that you can see and edit. Until you have that, your "about me" note from step 1 is that list: update it in one place and paste it everywhere.

How Cortex66 does this for you

Cortex66 keeps one memory for all the AIs you connect, and you can see it, confirm it, fix it, forget it and export it. Nothing becomes a fact about you until you confirm it, and forgetting removes the fact rather than hiding it. Because it is one chat over the assistants you already use, the same memory travels with you from one AI to the next. See how the memory works; it is free to start.

FAQ

Why does my AI forget things I told it yesterday?

The model itself does not keep conversations. Only notes the app chose to save come back, and different apps save different things, or nothing.

Is it safe to let an AI remember things about me?

It is safer when you can see and delete every saved item. Keep sensitive data out either way, and check saved notes from time to time.

Can one memory work across ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini?

Their own memories do not share. A tool that sits above them, like Cortex66, can keep one memory you confirm and use it with each of them.

Can I take my memory with me?

In Cortex66, yes: export gives you the confirmed facts with their sources.
